Freezing rows and columns
Freezing locks a number of rows at the top of a spreadsheet or a number of columns on the left of a spreadsheet. Then, when moving around within a sheet, the cells in frozen rows or columns always remain in view.
Figure 16: Example of frozen rows
Figure 16 shows that rows 1 and 2 are frozen. The heavier horizontal line between rows 2 and 21 indicate that rows 1 to 2 are frozen and the rows between 2 and 21 have been scrolled off the page.
To freeze rows only, click on the row header below the rows you want to freeze.
To freeze columns only, click on the column header to the right of the columns where you want to freeze.
To freeze rows and columns, select the cell below the rows and to the right of the columns that you want to freeze.
Go to Window on the main menu bar and select Freeze. A heavier line appears between the rows or columns indicating where the freeze has been placed.
