Sidebar

On the right of the Calc spreadsheet is the Sidebar, which gives you quick access to object properties and options. If the Sidebar is not visible on your setup, you can enable it by going to View > Sidebar on the main menu bar.

The Sidebar has four sections and to expand a section, either click on its icon or click on the small triangle at the top of the icons and select a section from the drop down list. Only one section at a time can be open.

Properties

Clicking on the Properties icon opens the Properties section of the Sidebar and shows theoptions that are available for a selected object in your spreadsheet. These options are similar to the options available to the ones available from Calc dialogs, the main menu bar or the context menu when you right click on an object in your spreadsheet.

Styles and Formatting

Clicking on the Styles and Formatting icon opens the Styles and Formatting section of the Sidebar and showsthe stylesthat are available for a selected object in your spreadsheet. When you edit a style, the changes are automatically applied to all of the elements formatted with this style in your spreadsheet.

Gallery

Clicking on the Gallery icon opens the Gallery section of the Sidebar opens the Calc gallery where you can insert an object into your spreadsheet as a copy. This copy is independent of the original object in the Gallery.

Navigator

Clicking on the Navigator icon opens the Navigator section of the Sidebar opens the Calc navigator, in which you can quickly move to another object or another sheet in your spreadsheet. It is recommended to give objects and sheets in your spreadsheet meaningful names so that you can easily identify them when using the Navigator. The Sidebar Navigator section provides a similar set of options as those provided by the Navigator dialog (see “Using the Navigator” on Page 27 for more information).

Function Wizard

Clicking on the Function Wizard icon opens the Function Wizard section of the Sidebar. The Sidebar Function Wizard section provides a similar set of options as those provided by the Function Wizard on the Formula Bar (see “Formula bar” on Page 7 for more information).
